Google does have an option to avoid tolls. Works great! Driving license and proof of insurance. Doesn’t seem like you are comfortable driving yet. Why don’t you use public transport to get there and take an Uber back? 30 min drive should not cost that much. Should be around $50!
I have been driving for past 6-7 years. Driving to the airport still makes me nervous. And I can’t even think about driving in California yet. I am sure your mom is already very proud of you but take an Uber for now.

Don’t forget to take your birth certificate and childhood pictures of your mom and yourself, in case she doesn’t recognize you. JK! Seriously speaking, ask one of your friends tag along. They can help you with navigation etc. Sometimes you might get distracted talking to your mom on your way back.
Firstly, avoid driving if you are not comfortable with it. Hope it never happens, but you don’t want to get into trouble and have stressors just when your family is arriving to have good times with you.
Secondly, if it is a weekday, with 6 am landing, immigrations, and custom your return trip may likely hit peak commuter traffic and some hasty drivers - you may struggle if you are still a graduating driver.
Thirdly, getting in and out of airports while navigating arrival and departure lanes is not the most friendly for infrequent drivers.
Lastly, try practising driving anyways with probably with instructor led classes. Living in the US, you’ve got to get comfortable driving.
Finally, take advice from PwC1 and TSC1 - get a cab, uber, lyft. Or heck have a friend drive you to bring your mom home. She will be happy to see you have supporting community built around you.
Thank you so much for helping me out on this part. I agree I am pretty new to driving and should not take risks when I will get plenty of opportunities to drive her around in short distances. 😊
There aren't any tolls from Sunnyvale to SFO on US 101 or 280; it's just the bridges that would have them mostly. Unless I'm missing something - where did you see a toll? You don't need any documentation, just park in the garage near the international terminal and go to the waiting area outside security. It should be a smooth 35 min drive at that time of day; agree with the others that whatever time her flight lands (6am) + customs + baggage claim could be until 6:45/7. But doesn't hurt to get there at 6:30 and wait!
I believe <30 min is free parking at SFO
Ah got it; I don't think they'll need the express lane at that time of day, traffic doesn't usually get too crazy until 8:30
