Can someone please explain why this exists in my paylslip, is it good or bad from tax perspective and shall I ask my HR to decrease it???
Please help asap.

It would mean acclimating to west coast hours.
I think I’d best ask before proceeding any further

It depends what kind of job it is. If your field has a lot of meeting then yes I would assume you would need to be willing to work a lot of west coast hours. But I’d you are mainly heads down doing your work with occasional meetings then it would likely not be that big of an issue.
What kind of salary cut we talking here? From what to what? Curious because I'm thinking about the same. Yes I know this is not the topic asked but appreciate the info.
On the topic, probably like stock brokers in the west who adjust to east coast time. But in reverse.
Indeed, one life to live !

West coast hours on the east coast are awesome. You can have free mornings and evenings!
I have a 7 year old and I’d rather keep my evenings free to spend time as a family
I have a lot of stakeholders on the West Coast, but I’m in Eastern Time. Plus I have people on my team in London. It’s… not great.
As far as the west coast folks, I typically work 10-7 which provides enough hours in the day to support them. But I do have have a call every Wednesday from 8:30-9pm because it’s with people on the West Coast and Singapore.
You’ll have to adjust to meet the working hours but it’s doable. If you have a family, it may cut into dinner time and (if kids) bedtime. But again, it’s doable.
I think I am ok doing it as one off but not as a way of life..
I would ask what their meeting culture is like. If they go until 6 pm PT it’s a no go, but if they cut out at like 3 pm that’s 6 pm your time. Much more doable.
I would love that, it would mean I could have my errands / appts / sleep in some mornings and login to work around 11-12 PM ET.
I don’t know if you have kids or not, but that’s impossible with those little monsters around
I’m in a Similar position - one of the topics I have to ask on the next round
