Hi there, got an interview with for a BA in consulting (insurance technology) but I’m kind of skeptical. I’m coming from another integrator consulting company. 1) What is the culture like in EY? Are you “agile”. 2) Would working in a specific service line in insurance meant it’s hard to exit?
3) Does EY still use utilisation for consulting? 4) Can I work on international projects? Any nice perks and benefits? Thank you!

Take a breath, and I don’t know if you pray, but I would advise you to pray at this moment to get some clarity. I would take a moment write down all of the pros and cons of the job and really figure out if you want to quit. Most ambitious people when they really want to do a thing they do it so something is actually holding you back from making that decision and I think you really need to figure out what that is. The next thing is if there’s nothing for you to do work with your leadership whether directly in your line or outside of it and figure out what other opportunities there are, go on the job postings and literally look at those options.. don’t give up on yourself, but take some time and figure it out like because when I’m emotions are running high it’s hard to think clear.
I felt this way last year!!! I did a lot of praying and finally got out of that bad job I was in. Update your resume, keep a look out, network and tell all your friends you need another job! You don’t know where it will come from!! It is coming! Have hope!
Could you take a mental health short term leave of absence? Some companies cover some of your paycheck, if not all. If you have a therapist, you can absolutely work with them to get you a few weeks to work on your mental health. I wish you the best outcome. Also, you may need to let the third part know, but you do not have to disclose to your company why you're taking leave and they legally can't ask you. Your therapist or Google can help you word it.
Definitely try to take STD OP - not sure what level PM you are or how much you make but I get hit up a good amt for PM roles. Dice has contract roles, Centene has a few PM roles too.
🙏🏽 IT is always booming.
I agree with taking a mental health leave. I did it last year for my anxiety.
I have definitely been there and I kind of still am. Do you have enough saved to take 1-2 months off for your mental clarity - sometimes we save for an emergency fund and this could be your emergency.
I would focus on your mental health, get a therapist (I am currently using better help)- someone to validate your feelings and talk your through.
It takes time to step back from the situation and decide how you want to proceed with a clear mind. There might be some trial and error, but just staying somewhere that you are miserable is not the answer.
I find that leaning into my spirituality helps as well
Most roles in accounting or tech
TF?! 😂 Stay AWAY from tech
Hope you find something worthwhile very soon. Hang in there.
Have you talked with a performance coach? A performance coach might be able to help you help yourself sort things out. I was in a similar space and ultimately the coach helped me to organize and really have the difficult conversations I didn’t have with myself.
This is an awful feeling to have. Sending you some good vibes. Ask yourself where you want to go in your career and what’s most important to you to thrive in a role. Make a list so you don’t wind up in a similar situation at your next job. Hopefully your next role doesn’t feel as restricting!
I share your sentiment wholeheartedly. I pray that whatever doors need to be open, Jesus will swing them wide open, and whatever doors need to close, He does it. May God quiet your anxious heart and give you His peace. May wisdom flow to your mind and provide you with clarity in Jesus' name, amen.
OP you aren’t alone. Trust and believe, everyone here wanted to quit their job probably at least 1 in the last week.
That aside, you need to start thinking about looking for other roles internally (if that’s an option) or look to bounce. No industry is booming as far as job are concerned so it’s a matter of finding the right role.
What helps me is to keep things in perspective - No Job will bring you happiness, but it will bring you a biweekly check with benefits. Keep it simple and that will alleviate the mental stress.
I felt this in my bones. Sending prayers and good vibes!
