I have a client that is terrible. Their whole company is in flux, massive scope creep & one of the people at the company is highly verbally abusive.

But it’s also a retainer that is stable & pays well (and im not sure if I can backfill them easily right now between all of the tech layoffs & the upcoming holidays).

I’d love any advice - im leaning towards firing them & hoping things work out (because my mental health > $$$), but am nervous because the job market isn’t exactly humming.

Would you rather:

Be laid off unexpectedly with an immediate termination date but you have a severance package.

OR

Have three weeks notice the end of your contract is up and won’t be renewed but have no benefits because you’re a contractor?

I have worked for my company for 2 years. They hired me with no background and only some college experience. I started in registration for primary care and was promoted after 6 months to a Clinical Assistant getting a raise of $2 flash forward another 6 months and I was promoted to a registration manager for primary care and I now make $20.25. I want to continue to push myself and grow but I think I have out grown my company. I just don’t know what job would be a good fit with out a degree.

RE: Deloitte slaughter - Anyone have any thoughts on what happened (no need to regurgitate the facts, 500 people booted firm-wide in Canada, maybe more to come). I’m especially upset that they did this without telling a lot of partners, made it purely financial without going through individual cases. This had nothing to do with optimizing the business direction, it was about saving money. Thoughts?

But what are the other pros/cons of jumping firms/moving from one LoS to another?
