I work in US Taxation in EY and carry an experience of 2 years. I am thinking to shift my career from US tax to either external audit or internal audit. Could anyone please suggest will it be a right move. Also how is the growth, opportunity in external or internal audit compared to US Tax. Also if audit, which one to prefer external or internal audit.

The translatable skills part sounds like a red flag to me. It shouldn’t be hard for an employer to determine if a candidate’s skill(s) can be used for their job opening. Anyway, I’d suggest using a job title that’s close to the one they’ve advertised. It sounds like they’re using ATS which only picks up the exact keywords they’ve inputted, which means it will auto-reject your application if it doesn’t find those words
Sounds like you need to change the pov of your resume. You can work in comms and still have acted as a project manager.
Interesting take. So are you saying maybe I pivot first to project manager and then to PMM?
Pivoting to a role is difficult. It’s even more difficult when you’re in a tough job market, going up against established PMMs. But it’s not impossible. Just gotta find the right situation and hiring manager that believes in you. Frame your agency experience like you were doing PMM as much as possible.
This is an influencer I would probably unfollow. They’re not aligned with your interests. Transferable skills are exactly that. They can transfer to different roles. This person is also completely dismissing that many people don’t want to be pigeonholed into doing the exact same role their entire careers. This is a person who lacks thinking outside the box. Now, of course if you’re clearly lying about your past roles and experience that would cause anyone to lose trust. But I know that’s not what you mean. I wouldn’t let this one viewpoint affect your pivot.
Unfortunately I think it is true, can you pivot within your company or modify your resume to be more aligned?
I would look into different aspects of PMM, like in some companies, industry marketing fits under product marketing and maybe you have skill sets you’re not aware that would transfer.
