I'm no guru but how's your resume looking? I've heard a lot of companies use AI to filter out the "bad" resumes. Typically they look for keywords that are used in their advertisement/Job description. I'd also say, try to avoid using stale over used words like, "Hard worker".
Of course OP, glad I could be of some use. I'm sure a lot of them get filtered out, especially due to spelling errors. A template would be useful if you're feeling stuck. I would say to help make it more personal, you could go give them the letter in-person, it shows you care more about the job. From experience, I did it to, two interviewers and one replied almost immediately.
First step is building your LinkedIn network. In today's job market submitting a resume online into the abyss most often results with automated rejection notices. I can't emphasize enough the value of LinkedIn premium when searching for a job and the first 30 days are free.
🔥 How is your LinkedIn profile look in relation to other professional with the same title (know your competition)?
How many alumni connections do you have with people in your field. How often do you engage with your network? Do you post on LinkedIn demonstrating your experience in program/content design?
🔥Do not apply through any third party site. Apply through the company website, if the job is not there, move on. Using "Apply" buttons is recorded and makes one pause and wonder if they are mass applying. You want no pauses.
🔥AFTER you apply, find the assumed hiring manager and email them. If a small company, it might be tough, email the CEO if it a small company and hiring manager is elusive. Unsure their address try first.last or first initial.last, still can't, Google around some people's names that work there, someone's address is out there and out will see the pattern.
It's rough out there. Don't fall into just applying online. ALWAYS BE NETWORKING...
Best of luck to you
I agree about finding a hiring manager and emailing them!
