I currently have a 3 days per week in office and 2 days/ week remote work arrangement. I would like to ask to work remotely for 1.5 weeks to help a family member move. What could I say to politely ask for this over an email? Or would it be something I’d need a meeting for?

If you are close to your supervisor you can schedule a call and say that for personal reasons I need to work remote for 1.5 weeks, what can I do to make this as seamless as possible? And work out the arrangement. Otherwise you may need to take the time off.

If you do want to do an email. You can email saying you would like to request 1.5 weeks of remote work and outline your detailed plan of how you plan to still be accountable and effective in that time frame. Make it as easy as possible for your supervisor to approve your request.

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I thought I’d have the upper hand with the nursing shortage but I’m getting the “rules are rules” response. Help!?!

Adverse selection is a huge issue in trading. You never have perfect information and your decision won’t be perfect for the outcome. This usually means you’re too small in winners and too large in losers.

As markets crash we’re seeing something similar. People are ignoring bad outcomes when they should be working that much harder to protect previous gains and find new ideas. Lower traffic in this thread is a symptom of this phenomenon. Don’t quit just as the value of incremental effort ramps.

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. I would face the wall so that I would have a better background for video conferences (am on about half the day) and also my cord situation would be cleaner.
