I didnt even start my CS degree until I was 35, graduated at 40, and went into DoD right after. I've had a successful career as a software engineer, systems engineer and product owner. There are caveats though, because ageism is real out here.

You have to apply to companies that are known for hiring older people. I'd suggest government, aerospace, or defense, at least until you get experience. They also hire based on behavioral attributes, which works for us older people. Also, dumb down your resume and make it look like your just entering the workforce, so you at least get to the interview stage. Only include what will help you
