“I don’t want to drain the slides” doesn’t mean the slides are too busy. It just means, I’m only going to hit the key points and don’t won’t spend 30 minutes presenting every word squeezed onto one slide.
This.
You either pick a different slide which is light to present. Or you use a “reference material” slide and don’t drain it when presenting.
Nothing to take offense on this.

Never heard this expression. What does it mean
Especially when the slide always gets “drained”.
Make your point, don’t apologize for having done the work.
“I’m sorry I made a crap slide that does not illustrate the point I am making but took an analyst a lot of time to figure out how small they can make text.”
Often times people don’t “drain the slide” because their talking time was cut short.
If they still “drain the slide” that’s another issue…
That’s the same thing… sorry you don’t like the words

No, there is a meaningful difference. As others have also pointed out, they often do drain the entire slide anyways, and even if they don't, they said that instead of actually focusing us on the part of the slide we should be focused on. Just say "look here!!!"
At least they didn’t “open the kimono” while “draining the slides” 😆
I used this expression today! My slide had a lot of info that wasn’t pertinent to my conversation, but might be of interest to others to look at it in more detail after I presented it.
This saying gives me tummy rumbles
