Same deal here. I have no moral qualms about it. Think about it another way - would it be ethical to be working all 8 hours but have nothing to show for it? No, because you're not getting paid for your time, but your output. As long as you're getting the work done on time, the company shouldn't care how long you're sitting in front of your computer each day.

I agree! Enjoy the extra hours pouring into your own cup then comrade!
I don’t see how anyone could view that as unethical. That’s just being efficient and focused. When you’re locked in, the work gets done faster — and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m the same way: I get all my work done in 5–6 hours and don’t mind it at all.

I agree but you never know how people would think of it
If you were an IC I wouldn’t see anything wrong with this approach. However, as a EM I wonder how much “cranking out work” involves supporting your teams? Does your approach work for your direct reports? Are there opportunities that you are your team are missing out on by being “laser focused” on output.

I feel like it even applies to my work as an EM. I was also recruiting for another position until recently. I work to get them clarity on what they are and will be working on, removing obstacles, and I meet with each of them every two weeks to check in and support them how I can
Working remotely can put you in the zone productivity wise. When people are happier they tend to do more.

I agree! It’s a hard value proposition to beat
