It just means the person you are with so no, not too soon
Personally, I don’t think this is a problem.
You can use partner. But you could ‘deep’ it and just be like, “This is ____ whom I’m in a relationship with.”
Or…go Carrie Bradshaw and just say, “This is my manfriend!”

I used the term boyfriend with my now husband when we were dating. We met when we were both 36. Didn't switch to "partner" until we moved in together. My suggestion is to not overthink it too much.
If you were in the same situation but in straight relationship, would you have the same concern about introducing a female partner as girlfriend?

I have no idea. I think of girlfriends as friends you do silly childish things with.
Atleast you have someone 😏

True that :)
Personally, I feel the stigma around us is still very real, so it makes sense that many of us hesitate to use boyfriend out loud. But I believe the more we normalize that language, the more we chip away at the discomfort. Reducing stigma helps more people feel safe coming out, which in turn strengthens our visibility, our numbers, and our collective voice.

Bottom
There is no better (defined as common and consistently understood) term. Just say boyfriend and move on.
Boyfriend is the culturally accepted normal term for all ages. If you said partner I would think you were referring to a husband.

I’ve heard someone use “My bottom” before
