Nothing to feel, you took the offer when you did, and company gave you offer based on whatever metrics when they did.
Screw the feelings and figure out 2 things:
1) How much do you personally want without comparing to others? I say this because there could be another peer making more than the peer you are comparing yourself against
2) Given you want to be paid more by the marketplace for a job you are doing, the grass will always be greener, yet ask yourself, why do you what you do? Money/Title (reputation for society)/long term learning (why many join startup for less upfront compensation/etc
No right or wrong answer and just sharing my insight based on being in the same situation...just that I was the peer earning more and my peer eventually left and got more compensation than me, in the good way, by a different company etc
There are so many factors affecting someone's pay that it's usually just wrongheaded to worry about disparities like that. I've been thinking lately about the timing factor, and how it's going to disadvantage people taking jobs these days. When a bad job market like this drives offers lower, people accept them, and consequently they will always be running behind during their entire tenure.
how much more? and were you two hired at the same time? because this is a key point
Like 20% more and yes hired at the same time
