I was interviewed at EY UK on 7th Sep. It was quite smooth. Since then I haven't heard anything back from them though interviewer claimed SLA to get back with outcome of interview is 48 hours. On portal it still says I'm in hiring team phase. It was level 1 interview.
Should I take this delay as rejection?

Actually it's pretty low for UK standards and also as per your yoe. Better ask for 80k minimum. With inflation in uk ,it's going to be hard to get by at just 3.5k pounds inhand.
You will barely survive in London with the offered salary. Minimum target should be 4K after tax
I have a very similar offer salary wise although my yoe is 4 yrs. I have taken it up to get the exposure. Moving in may. If you are alone, you will definitely save some 500 pounds a month.
£54k is pretty low to survive in or around London. And it’s a shame that EY is offering this package for someone with 10 yoe. It’s a clear case of cutting costs.
Even if I assume £54k is just a base salary and there is a benefits package on top of that which is usually 7-8% of base salary, taking your gross income per year (indeed if you don’t opt for benefits and go for cash payout instead) to £58-59k. That’s not a good salary mate. With the inflation level in the UK, you should be earning at least 70k if your work location is in or around London. If you’re married and your spouse is also going to be working then you can consider this package provided your spouse also earns the similar salary.
Just a thought - don’t you think negotiating £80k in response to £54k offer is going to be difficult? I agree the company should have offered you ~£80k considering your experience in the first place, however that jump in the salary after negotiation looks difficult to me.
