I got laid off and 3 weeks later a SC from HR sends me an email about an opening at the firm. Should I apply???

Currently in R2 with Bain & Company . Interview was scheduled 3 weeks apart from R1. Now they pushed my interviews another week. What should I do? I’m worried that other candidates with offers are asking to speed up their process or maybe it’s just that Partners are very busy. Thanks!

The acquisition was public so they can see Im no longer employed with the most recent work history on my resume

CTR, contracts and department overhaul

our marketing dept is undergoing a complete overhaul. under old leadership, a $75k 12-mo contract was signed to a marketing group that handles our SEO, blog and everything Google Ads. All things I can and am in training to do. Current CTRs on G ads seem pitiful at no more than 0.75%. My meta ads coast around 4-6%. During this overhaul, would it be wise to not renew our contract, and negotiate for me to take over these roles and leverage a raise?

I see a lot of posts about only changing jobs if there's a big raise. I jumped out of consulting into a job that pays the same amount, but has way better WLB, culture, and other benefits. I was just not happy at my old job and I don't regret the switch. If you're not happy, it's ok to move without the change being all about a huge salary jump. California has relatively low property tax rates. We had eliminated it as a potential retirement state because of the high income tax rate (maxing at 13.3%) but if you are planning to retire, couldn't you just buy your CA house with cash and pre-pay any other big expenses ahead of moving there - thus reducing the amount of income you'd need when you live there? If you can pre-buy all your big assets (mainly the house), then theoretically you don't need as much income when you live there.

PSA: Plenty of non-monetary reasons to leave consulting. Hot job market also makes it easier to pursue roles you previously wouldn't have considered/been qualified for. Diversify the experience and make yourself more marketable during future market slumps. Consulting + industry experience > consulting.
