I got married 2 months ago, and now we've moved to Gurgaon. My wife also works and earns almost the same salary. I'm unsure how to broach the topic of household expenses with her.

just need a advice. Should we split expenses equally, or is there a different approach you recommend?"

You are not flat mates who will split there expenses. You are now soul mates and family , and now stop thinking about individual salary, but rather as family income and see the total family expenses and rest of the income should be invested by consent of both for family future. And for that you can have some common savings like property , gold etc and some individually savings for both like mutual funds , FD’s etc whatever suits you both

You don't seem to be mature enough.....

High chance that your wife will leave you for another more competent man.

Dear Brother I think you both are in same situation because you are newly married and doesn't know about each other properly first thing you have to speak openly with her then she will also doing the same means Proper bonding and love then slowly slowly talk about future plans what to do or don't and when she was comfortable then put this Expenses point one can do the House hold expenses and other can save for future plans May be you both feel Happy and revert after 2 years .hope you understand my words .thanks HAVE YOU VERY HAPPY JOYFUL MARRIED LIFE GOD BLESS YOU BOTH

Talk to her and ask her what she feels. Women prefers a partner who spends his money on her and side by side spend on household/trips/shopping etc as well. So better if you discuss with her in advance, chances are she if not mature or understanding partner, will definitely boil up. But still ask her what she thinks and where you can utilise your family income and how like investments and all.
Don't be scared if she threatens to leave you, women just want to scare you off in above comments.
Talk to her nicely and let her know what you think and take her opinion. Explain her bank savings won't take her anywhere. And even if you are earning 40lakhs, your lifestyle will alone eat that money. Don't be bothered if she gets pissed, because generally gfemales are very insecure in these matters so you need to keep your upper hand and lead. Let me know if you have any questions.

Open one common account and put equal money in that according to your monthly expenses and spend from here only. Personal expenses can be done from ur individual account.

My financial advisor mentioned Nationwide Variable Universal Life Insurance Accumulator would be a good financial instrument as we are now in a higher tax bracket.
