PwC 🐠, I interviewed with the firm about 6 months ago for a Senior Associate position on the forensics team. I wasn’t extended an offer because the position was given to an internal transfer, at least what I was told. I tried reaching out to the recruiter I worked with last time but the email bounced back and wouldn’t be delivered. I was hoping to see / reapply if the group still was looking for seniors.
In your opinion, would it be best to reapply as a cold application?

My advice is not to get discouraged when reading about skill requirements on job applications. You were smart to do networking for your first job. If you want to find other positions, then you go about the same way.
My company also isn’t investing in training me in anything else other than what is necessary to my work functions. I feel trapped. Should I take classes or something so I’m not unemployable by 30?
I had this same issue.. spent a couple years in a company that wasn’t investing in tech or automation. Had to take some trainings on YouTube or Udemy on the technical skills I needed. After that it’s about how you handle the interviews..
Kudos for recognizing it now instead of 5 years from now.
What I did was identify jobs that I'd want in the future and find ways to mimic the requirements in my current role. At your age, no one is expecting you to have done the task for 10 years, so a few months of exposure is reasonable.
There'll obviously be other ways to redirect your career, but getting useful bullets for your resume in your current role is always a plus.
This amazing advice. Thank you, seriously.
