I had a whole script ready for air - then breaking news dropped, and my work was cut down to three lines. Weeks of graft gone in seconds. Have you ever lost work to last-minute changes?

Frequently. Hearing "we're going to pause this for now" or "we're going to go in a different direction" drives me insane. I understand that it happens and is unavoidable at times, but I cannot stand when it's seemingly done out of pure capriciousness.

feel the same. Sometimes it feels like decisions are made on a whim rather than necessity. Do you ever ask for context when they change direction, or just let it go?

Yes, and it stings. You pour yourself into something and then watch it vanish. It is part of the job, but it never feels good when your work gets trimmed to nothing

Yes, that is exactly it. Even if you know it is part of the job, it still stings to see your work vanish. Do you keep those cut pieces for your portfolio, or just move on?

a few weeks ago we had a super busy day with scripts and i think i went into ‘autopilot’ because i don’t remember it happening, but i handed out the wrong prescription to someone (before you get mad, i only started a few weeks ago and i’m a junior assistant), out of all people i could’ve given the wrong medication to, it was a blind person. i have severe anxiety already and want to know some tactics to go back to work without guilt? i take guilt very heavy and struggle to get past it all

One of my direct reports has asked about going part time. They currently manage special reports in a bi-weekly publication, working closely with sales, freelance writers, and an internal designer. Job duties are primarily project management and editing/proofreading. As the first read on articles, they need to have an understanding of the material (business/regulation). Has anyone had experience with job sharing in this type of a role?

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important. I hope this nostalgia goes away soon.
