It might appear that way based on past experiences, but this opportunity excites me.
Yes looking at the number of years I have worked in the mining industry, the skill and the experience I have gained in operating wheel Loader for 9 years I can be over qualified.
When preparing for every interview I write a little career story for myself that has the company and the role as a main character. Sometimes it's fiction and sometimes there are elements of non-fiction, you know? So you're looking to gain x skill for y reason, and this job description appealed to you because of its emphasis on that skill. At this point in your life you are looking for a z company that does blah blah blah just like Thiscompany. The story is multi-purpose, and I can tell it a bit differently in response to any flavour of 'why would you want this job'.
I would avoid saying that you're looking for something less stressful. That sounds like you're hoping to coast and not put forth much effort. I'd keep it focused on why the job or the company are attractive to the personal/career growth you envision for yourself.
I really love that idea omg thank you
Here’s my question. I haven’t worked since March 2018 die to going on disability , not something i wanted, my i was going thru alot with my Lupus. my daughter was diagnosed 2016 with a rare cancer of the heart and needless to say, her health is declining rapidly and I lost her March 2019. However, I was already on disability. Here’s my problem. Disability doesn’t doesn’t go very far so after I pay all of my bills for the month, I’m basically left with $250 to live on. So now I’m wanting to enter the workforce because that way I can still draw my disability for my lupus. But I don’t know what to do during an interview since it’s been 2014 since I’ve had an interview. As soon as I tell somebody, I’ve been on disability And that’s why I haven’t worked in so long that’s where the interview goes south real quick. All I do is work part-time retail or even do remote customer service. i still have my disabilities example if i stand to long my legs and feet go numb. Most of the remote customer service jobs are scams and some the reputable acompanies don’t furnish the equipment. Does anyone have any suggestions. Oh by the way I am 63 yrs young so there’s that
I always answer with confidence. "I have more experience than the other candidates. I'm looking for a different challenge."
Thank you, that's great that you see my potential. I am proud of my accomplishments, yet at any job there are always things to learn and accomplish. I am really interested in learning more about (some part of job desc) and hope with my past experience I can contribute right away to the team.
"Why would you want this job?" That is a very common question. You don't have to flip it, just think about what made you apply in the first place. You can also talk about the good things you've heard about the company, because you should always research the company before every interview.
Have you gotten a job?
I enjoy working with people and think the insurance industry is fun. Talk about the company you are applying for and tell them how you would be an asset to them with your skill set.
Recently my husband went through this, from being a team manager at a medical insurance company, he applied to be an agent at a food delivery company. He replied that in terms of pay, the salary wasn't much different the gap could be filled by bonus he would get with excellent performance (this shows confidence and commitment). In terms of why he moved, he mentioned that the business domain was a better fit for him, dealing with customers who are doing something enjoyable rather than dealing with medical conditions.
He's got the job, he's exceeding expectations, and they even hinted that soon they'll open a team manager position that he could consider to apply to...
