I handle the lease admin functions at my company, a large operator of QSRs. I’ve been at my company for 3 years and was previously at a property management company for 1+ years. We recently hired a new director and are building out our portfolio management team. My supervisor has said a promotion is on the horizon. What is the industry progression from an administration role? Is a coordinator considered a promotion? I want be sure I’m staying marketable and developing as I’m early in my career

Depends on what department you’re in, but a traditional trajectory would be Leasing Assistant/Admin > Leasing Coordinator > Leasing Representative > Leasing Manager > Leasing Director > Leasing VP with seniority steps in between!

Also depends whether or not you plan to get your commercial real estate license to get onto the sales/negotiation side of things. Otherwise there are people who stay in Lease Administration and Documentation, and go the legal route as well.

So, I’m interviewing for a position that fits perfectly, HR likes my profile, had great conversations with them. Today I had a Panel interview with HR and the hiring manager. The manager is not experienced, it’s her first r manager role and she’s been in it for 3 months. I was prepared but was out of breath the entire interview, had a knot in my throat, had trouble finding my words. It’s like I had PTSD when this manager came into the picture. Ever had that?

Here is my dilemma: I was passed up for manager promo last year and rightfully so a lot of my feedback was definitely correlated to me not properly handing my symptoms causing a good bit of inconsistencies in my performance especially if I lacked interest. - we have a “Fishbowl Live event” where we (practicing PMs) can discuss what we have seen work / not work/ brainstorm solutions for someone with a specific problem.

The idea is to provide multiple peer perspectives, and hopefully something useful
