I just quit. Same position as you. Now working toward something hopefully better. But your financial situation may be different than mine so make the change depending on how it best aligns with your life
I've felt the same way for years, but I've been too risk-averse to change direction. I'm very close, though, to just throwing in the towel, taking a 50% pay cut, and doing something I actually enjoy.
Depression
Wow this is me. Any idea whats wrong with us?
Capitalism my love
I quit and moved into an individual contributor role 🎉
I exited to industry from consulting. Equally miserable but better wlb.
Im starting my own risk mgmt / insurance consulting firm because I cant take it any longer and even if I’m working 100 hour weeks and making less money at least I am doing it my way
There are parts of the job I love. The mentorship, the training, the leadership. But everything else just sucks the life energy out of me.
Wow guys, I am on the same boat. We are all faking that we can’t reveal elsewhere. I am planning to leave soon as well. Hopefully for better.
There’s a lot of us alike here. Dealing with the exact situation here and trying to figure out the next step
I recently took a paycut of 15% and went for a role where I have full ownership and far less political. I am very happy with the move and believe that if I do what I like I will excel at it and make more $$ in the longer term.
I went to industry at SM. It was a base pay cut at the time (3-4 years ago). We are PE backed. I have earned 7 figures of incentive units, currently at 400-500k cash comp, plus annual refreshers on the equity (the math is complicated but assume 6 figures or multiple 6 figures). It’s certainly not an easy job but wlb better than consulting. And I couldn’t be happier with what I’m putting on my resume if I ever go somewhere else.
If what you’re doing isn’t working try something else.
Literally could have written this post.
Are u at PWC OP?
I am getting out of consulting (15+) to industry and want to focus on my own product development.
Are you me? I hate my leaders. I am ready for a change.
I am miserable as well but trying to find something in industry. It may not be fulfilling either but at I might get good at it and excel in the long run. It’ll be a pay cut but better wlb might make me happier. Good luck to us all.
You work at Alix?
Ok can I just say that I cry at least once a week since the last few years. I joined Deloitte and was assigned to something I had no exposure towards and frankly no business of being there -coupled with the fact that I’ve gotten bad feedback for almost 6 years straight - I cried the first time, cried the second time now I’m numb to feedback but I cry once a week because I feel so helpless and like a loser.
Can anyone here tell me how they changed things around for themselves?
I’m with SM2, the day I left ey- my happiness changed for the better.
Not a director level but in mid level management and thinking about going to law for business law but to really just run my own practice
You’re going to hate that step down more. Gas station is good or a McDonalds
