Miro is very powerful, and very useful to collaborate with designers on. It takes a bit of learning to understand how to navigate (especially following other people, etc) but it’s a solid product.
Limnu also works for your use case.
Both should be very easy to pick up. Just pick one.
I agree - Miro is a great tool and if you do a little bit of time learning it you can at least get the basics for the interview, and then you might like it longer term. I think it's always worth learning something that is the better product - especially if it's not insane. :)
I think Crayon is pretty good?
I used Figma for a virtual whiteboarding interview and it worked great for me
I did a virtual whiteboarding session last week and literally just used Word to record and organize my ideas. (would have preferred an actual whiteboard, but the one I have at home is too small).
Seemed to work out OK, as I advanced to the next phase in the process.
Does the role actually care about skills in those programs?
I’ve done interviews for designers who literally used pen and paper that absolutely killed it. Some of the best brainstorming comes from hand drawn ideas + is more realistic to a real whiteboard. I don’t think the companies will care.
No, role does not require those programs. I just want to be able to effectively convey my product ideas and answer their questions.
I agree! For all my prep work, I’ve been writing down answers and ideas in my ruled notepad, so just trying to figure out the best tool for switching to a digital whiteboard.
