Stop letting imposter syndrome get in the way. Go after senior pm roles! Each company has their own interpretation of pm vs senior pm. Give principal or group a shot as well!
+1 to the above. In general you shouldn’t over-index on titles during recruiting. It varies too much between companies to be reliable. Focus on the scope, opportunity for impact, and comp.
If you do decide to take a step down, I would focus more on the positives of the move - Why the new company is a better fit for you and what you will be gaining from the experience.
Many times, you'll need to show you can handle the responsibilities of a higher role before you're given the promotion. This could also be that so don't sell yourself short.
