I have an in-person interview in Texas next month, and I hear that the high temperatures this time of year are brutal there. I want to make a good impression, but a full suit and tie sounds miserable. I don't want to look unprofessional, but I also don't want to melt before I walk in for my interview. Do the local recruiters still expect the traditional formal look in extreme weather, or is it okay to drop the tie?

It will be hot outside but cold inside the actual building. Don’t wear the jacket while traveling. Don’t walk to the interview if you don’t have you and you should be fine.

I fully agree with this and I was going to comment the same thing

What city

They’re probably going to want the full suit. Houston you could get away with it, and in Austin you could certainly get away with it.

You’ll be fine. It’s definitely hot 100+ but dry heat, not wet and humid. Wear the full suit to make the best impression.

Always over dress. Take an uber or put the jacket on after

Echoing what another commenter said. It's hot outside but we have air conditioning. Just keep your jacket off while you drive and put it on in the parking lot while you walk into the building. You won't die in 60 seconds

I am in Texas (Dallas area), and in the summer it is usually in the 90-100 during the day, and can be upper 90s - low 100's in July and August, but not very humid.

But most buildings do have AC running in the summer, so you shouldn't be outside for very long, assuming your transportation to the interview site has working AC. So dress to impress!

New to the U.S., is the Healthcare Industry (via HIPAA), the only industry in the U.S. that legally mandates having a designated Privacy Officer? Considering switching careers:

I got hired straight out from college 5 years ago from a small CPA firm and have worked in Tax ever since. Lately, I feel like this is not what I'm actually into. What else I can do with my Accounting degree?

My passion is Real Estate and Interior Design, love Managerial Accounting, I can sit for hours analyzing data, I also have a degree in Supply Chain Management.

My passion cannot feed my family but I've been burned out so much after years in Tax. 😞

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.
