I have an interview this week with McKinsey. I just did a mock case with someone at the firm and it had to be the hardest case I’ve ever done. Any encouragement or advice would be really appreciated

Anyone know much about the start up scene in E Africa? I hear a lot of general talk about how it’s ‘booming’ but can’t find much information online. I’m in a weird position where I’m trying to switch into tech but am moving to Kampala for the next year. Has anyone received a job offer after being initially ghosted by recruiter? How long did you not hear from them? Feeling down after not hearing anything for 2 weeks after a round of seemingly promising interviews.

Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I’ll of course prep for the interviews but am afraid to burn potential bridges if I ultimately decline because I’m still figuring things out.

I have a friend who was let go a few months into his first job after college (reason: the manager felt like he wasn't grasping the training content to the level that was expected). He's worried about if he should put the experience on his resume anyway, if he does will recruiters ask why he had such a short time at this place, and what will recruiters think if he explains he was let go. I had a baby almost a year ago. I should start a 529 account for my child but I am originally from France which also makes her a French citizen and she could easily go to college in France for not much money. It’s pretty much free there, I have 0 Student loan debt. With that in mind, a 529 would not be super helpful if we go that route. Should I consider other options? Do you have suggestions? A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.

If I status match in January, will I have that status through January 2019?
