I have an offer for a finance role from one of the faang companies out of Seattle. Total comp is little over $400k. Is this a respectable offer? I’m currently based out of a tier-3 city and working for one of the big4s.

400k that’s like how much homeless people make in dealing crack in the streets of Seattle. You gotta ask the recruiter for the “premium comp package”, that’ll get you 30% higher instantly. It’s kinda the same thing like asking for your in n out fries “animal style”. Make sure you whisper it when you’re over the phone so no one else can hear the secret code.

$400k monthly is not bad

OP- this is a prettt good offer for a finance role in FAANG in Seattle. Obviously the pay for technical roles out here are much higher but unfortunately for us, we aren’t engineers :/

like

Congrats! What was your role in your current company by the way?

like

Lol that’s it?

Interesting. The recruiter was saying that it’s a very competitive offer.

Very competitive for a non technical role for sure

You better take that role before I slap you. J/k

Although Seattle is expensive, it Seems like a great offer and an improvement on your comp. But what about your location preferences? How does your family feel about Seattle?

How close are you to partner? As a 4th year director you should have a great idea if you are going to be admitted. $400k is great and it’ll be quite a few shares but know that amazon is no picnic when it comes to wlb. 5th year comp could also be an issue after your initial grant vests.

Yes

That's terribly low offer but I would still take it and live on a pavement hut and spend hooping $1000 for fast food and clothes..
Rest of the money is too low for me to do something...

Any ideas what to do with that low paid money...

Also remember.. companies moving out of Seattle already..so don't take that offer...
You might get $600k as you are the only Finance guy left among few

Total comp should be 1mm+

Guys - I am surprised by the level of animosity OP is getting
Sounds like a bunch of kids jealous of the one who got candy
Enjoy your offer and time at Amazon, great company OP
