It ain’t wrong...

I am reaching out to you all and am looking forward to break into Investment Banking from Consulting. Applied to Goldman Sachs via a referral but my resume is stuck after HireVue. Talked to the VO who referred me and he said Goldman doesn’t hire in Q4. If that’s true and still need to be in GS, can someone forward my resume directly to the team? Their career portal sucks. TIA Goldman Sachs PS: I promise a dinner in a dance place in NY after I get hired as a sign of my gratitude 🙈

Cisco interviewed me for 3 months for a couple of roles and then offered me comp that is considerably less than my current comp for a product manager role!! They also said its cisco policy to not offer rsu for mcol cities. Rsu is apparently only meant for candidates in hcol cities.
Need to punch a bag every day for several days to get over this bs.

No there are no hard skills needed for strategy work. You just need prestige + bullshitting ability. You should read enough to have approximate knowledge of many things and be eloquent enough to bullshit convincingly.
Doesn't hurt. But if the skill is not already acquired, time and energy is best spent elsewhere. If you're smart and driven enough for high-end strategy consulting, then you're smart and driven enough to quickly pick up tableau or alteryx
No.
To get through a strategy consulting interview, you'll need to understand business fundamentals. You might be able to learn a lot of this from Coursera, but you'd be better served just studying case prep material. You'll need to know how to analyse data and structure problems. And you'll likely need to practice case interviews.
More importantly you'll need to network into an interview or get an MBA (which helps you get the interview and provides lots of case prep opportunities).
Most importantly, why do you want to do strategy consulting?
You should focus on casing and networking into strat firms. Look over Victor Cheng for how to structure, and review Case in Point for examples / the business acumen piece (but not their approach - it’s outdated).
