I have been working as a Tier 1 Help Desk technician for the past 10 months at a company where I have worked for a total of 5 years. I’m wondering where I could pivot, as I believe my wage is very low considering my tenure. I currently make $18 an hour, and I recently earned an HDI certification. I also have to work every Saturday with no rotating shifts.

I’m wondering how I can bring up the possibility of a raise, or if I should start looking for opportunities at different companies instead.

I have 16 tier one techs on my team. Consisting of a mixture of direct hires and contractors overseas! My direct hires start at $ 23/hr, with my seasoned techs getting about $ 25/hr! First, update your resume. Second, apply for a new job at another company! Keep applying until you get an offer! Third, negotiate your salary. Next, present the offer to your current employer and give them a chance to counter! Or just quit (2 week notice)! Rinse and repeat as needed throughout your career!

In summary, you’re underpaid and typical yearly 3% raise at your current employer is going to keep you there! We are worth what we accept! Negotiate

Are you guys hiring? 😅

Tenure does not mean an automatic raise. Show them how much your productivity has improved over the last 5 years.

Hi all,

I would like to hear out your opinions on internal salary negotiations at the back of promotion.

I'm a Business Analyst with over 10 years experience, been in the same company for the whole time, Currently, I'm below Average Industry standards by approx. 10% for my (current) role.

I have applied for internal job which is effectively one level above, meaning it would be a promotion.

I got the job, awaiting offer.

I am a Senior Manager of Software Engineering and lead architect at a small company (was a startup with < 10 employees when I joined, now has > 50). I am the most senior technical person in the company (we don't have a CTO, I report to the COO), even though I only have 4.5 YOE. By God's grace I have been able to succeed in the role, but feel that I am underpaid and would like your input.
