"He also hits me frequently." This is absolutely insane to have to put up with at work. The fact that you've been suspended over it reflects SO poorly on the company. Please contact a lawyer immediately. Look specifically for ones that will work on a contingency basis so you don't have to pay anything out of pocket. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.
Sorry for what you are experiencing in the home health care sector. I do suggest that you contact your attorney for legal advice! Be very clear when you describe the issue with being hit by a patient! Was the abuse witnessed or unwitnessed? If so who? How many times has this happened? Who did you tell and what was their response? What part of your body was hit? Is there any injuries and did you seek medical attention or was it offered by your employer? How many other staff is being abused by the patient? What is the mental status of the patient? Is there a family member in the home? I just want you to get your ducks in a row! Organize your information and put it in order by the date. Your documentation of the incident is very important and your attorney will know how to get a copy of your notes. How long is the investigation going to take? Are you receiving a pay check or are you off without compensation? Will you receive compensation for the days you are off? I hope this helps! Sometimes nurses can be left alone and made to feel as if they are the problem. Thanks for sharing! Others need to know potential problems that we face in nursing. Do not discuss your case with anyone else except for your attorney! Blessings to you!
