Correct, Sloan is like this as well.
Nothing stops you from checking the box, but sponsored candidates DO have a leg up in getting accepted. Sponsorship helps a school’s stats on employment outcomes, which I imagine Columbia would care about considering all the backlash on Reddit about their most recent employment report. Also, these schools care about money, so sponsorship is attractive to them anyway.
Of course, if you have a 4.0 and 99th percentile GMAT, you’ll be fine regardless.

Idk, I had no desire to apply there lol
Sponsorship is usually directly billed to the company from the school (that’s how CBS did for me) and thus they’d know you were being sponsored after the first bill goes out.
Right but you’d need to see the terms of the scholarship to ensure you don’t somehow run awry of that by being sponsored. They may also argue you were dishonest by not disclosing sponsorship and that can be cause for all sorts of issues. Then again, CBS admin is so disorganized that I doubt they’d figure it out.
