I have noticed lately that "Leadership" really doesn't want to know what my daily tasks are, just as long as the job gets done. Now multiply that by 3. Although it sounds frustrating, it makes being overemployed so much easier. Don't get me wrong, I love a good trivia game during a zoom meeting, but having to pretend to be nice is hard! Then again, $20 is 20 bucks.

What do you find easier? Playing nice in the sandbox or working for dolts?

Do you recommend getting appliances home warranty (ie American Home Shield) for rentals or do you deal with maintenance issues as they arise (I’m thinking appliances, AC, garage, etc...)? For reference, American Home Shield warranty charges ~$50/month and ~$125/service order!

I really want to get a second job but I am scared of losing my current one. Both companies are in same field, although not direct competitors so I know it’s technically “not allowed” however, this is the only way for me to get that $$ since I am not paid all that well.

Of course I won’t tell a single friend/coworker. Only my partner. And I don’t post work stuff on social media.

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

Anyone in consulting and doing OE? Using bench time for J2+ seems like a good opportunity in this environment, considering it wouldn’t look out of place to remain on the bench for quite a while
