I have over 15 years of QA experience, worked on Automation and Performance testing and now trying to transition over to a Technical Program Manager role. I do have some project management experience but mostly I have been into Lead/IC roles in service based companies. Does anyone here transitioned to a TPM role, what are the things I should focus on?

Already working on system design fundamentals(Alex Xu) and some project management topics including Risk management, communication etc.

What are your thoughts on the Scrum Master role? I’ve worked with a few now and out of 5 of them, only 1 seemed to be of any help. Most of the time we have to explain every detail multiple times and they still don’t understand what we’re doing. I interviewed with a company last week and the interviewer said he would submit my notes to the hiring manager and I would hear back this Monday from HR on next steps/if they want to move forward. I didn’t hear back yesterday so I emailed HR and she said she wasn’t part of the hiring decision so would reach out to the initial interviewer for his feedback. I haven’t heard from her and it’s been 24 hours - starting to get worried. What should I do? Does this mean they’re not interested?

Any advise on best course of action for case in which manager intentionally blocks promo opportunity (on different team) so they can keep you in role. And then claim that you are not ready for promo (after they initially were all about you being ready)?
