First step- recognizing you have a problem. Bad shopping habits or shopping addiction?
Second step: identify your triggers. Shopping because bored? Anxious? Feeling like you can’t control things? Feeling like without material goods life doesn’t have meaning? Step 3 make it more difficult to access your money. Cut up your credit/debit cards or freeze in block of ice. Delete from your saved accounts on your common shopping sites. Step 4: therapy or intense self work. For me, gratitude journaling helped me to value that which I already have.
Somewhere in there you have to assess the financial damage, develop a plan to correct it, and set up automatic savings. Plan out long term goals and make an action plan.
