I have received an Associate Principal offer from Air b-n-b. I have nearly 6 years of experience (7 depending on how it is counted) in consulting and live in a VHCOL area (though the compensation is the same for anywhere in the US). Base salary offered is $155k (a pay cut from my current role), with $140k worth of RSUs and no cash signing bonus. Is this a competitive offer? What would be a reasonable amount to negotiate for, particularly in terms of base salary?

I’d been hoping to switch to a FT role before COVID then well you know...After 3 months I finally landed a couple contract opportunities but no luck yet with a FT role. I'm US based and my salary is around $250k (NYC) -I've been asked my expectation without the startup giving me a range to work from (though I've asked).
