Have an offer at Citi for 120K as an AVP in the NY office. Currently making 92K at my current role. Is this a fair offer? I currently WFH pretty much full time at my current role but it seems like this one requires 2-3 days in the office - and this is something I’m very hesitant about. Thoughts on how to approach this?
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

I’ve never heard questions like that apply to a one-on-one. I would say if you are wanting a raise or a promotion, you should be having very targeted discussions prior to AOP so it can be considered in the next year’s budget. Your one-on-one should cover expectations and a growth path. You should know exactly what you need to deliver in order to be considered for a promotion

Sorry I should’ve been more detailed. My boss is using some of our one on one meetings to do year end reviews and to discuss raises.
These are all very solid questions to ask in an interview. In a 1:1 for a job you already do, it’s a little different. I might focus more on a growth path and what compensation looks like for that.

That makes a lot more sense. Thanks

There is no range budgeted for existing employees that you can negotiate like there is when first getting hired. Rasises are almost always a percentage of existing comp, and there's likely a cap that they will pay for aa given position.
Compensation isn't likely to be a topic, you should make sure that it is a topic. Come prepared with a list of the activities and outcomes that show your growth in the role, and plainly and respectfully ask for a raise based on that list.
A final point thst Ill make is that raises are typically given for the work that is already being done. If you want to ask for more responsibility because you haven't yet expanded significantly in your role, that is a very valid ask, though being willing to take on more is not grounds for getting a raise.

Thanks. We have a couple meetings to discuss my year ends review ratings and then a separate one to talk about raises. The company does a raise each year. It’s about 3%.
