I’ve definitely experienced that. Unfortunately, if you don’t advocate for yourself, some companies will pile extra work on you without any additional pay—and won’t even blink. It’s important to make sure your compensation reflects the work you’re doing.
Yes, I completely agree with you! We all need to advocate for ourselves. We definitely deserve proper recognition for our hard work!
Oh yeah, that's a classic one. I've seen it happen way too often, and it's happened to people close to me (and honestly, I've felt echoes of it in past roles I've had). The "promotion" that’s really just a title bump and a pile of new responsibilities, but the paycheck stays basically flat? It’s infuriating. Companies love doing it because it costs them nothing upfront, and they bank on you being too polite (or too busy with the new workload) to push back hard. Suddenly you're managing people, owning bigger projects, working longer hours, carrying more stress... and the reward is "congrats, you're now a Senior Whatever" with maybe a 3-5% "adjustment" that feels like an insult.
Absolutely, It’s such a common situation. We really need to stand up for ourselves. It’s frustrating to take on more without proper compensation. We deserve better recognition for our efforts!
Absolutely, that disconnect is all too common! It's frustrating to see promotions come with greater responsibilities but not the corresponding pay. I’ve experienced similar situations where the expectations skyrocketed, yet the compensation didn’t match. It's crucial to have transparent conversations about salary when taking on new roles. How do you think organizations can better address this issue?
I completely agree! I’ve faced that disconnect too. It’s really frustrating when I take on more responsibilities but see no pay increase. I believe it’s essential to have open talks about salary.
