Shut out the noise. You do you. I took grief because most days I had some sort of chicken dish. Hey, I love chicken!🍗 And when I needed to lose weight, high protein/low carb diets worked for me. Your lunch break is a break - treat it as such and enjoy, be it time away from your desk or a meal you can enjoy or both!
Chicken lovers unite!
Don’t change for anyone—especially for someone who’s judging your food. You’re not trying to make them eat it. Truth is…mean people will always find something to comment on. They’re unhappy with themselves.
Read or listen to the book Let Them
Who gives a sh? That’s what you should respond. Or “Why do you care so much about what I have to ingest?” Or “what do you suggest I pack to please you?”
Now I’m curious, what do you usually pack?
I've always struggled with the same thing. Developing that hard skin.. for the right reasons. Just practice ignoring the chatter, and over time, it gets easier to focus on what actually feels good for you.
This is a joke right? I would walk up to that person and ask them point blank what their problem is with my food? Why does it matter to them what I eat? Sounds like your company culture is could use sone emotional intelligence training.
Ask them what they plan on bringing you next week - take time to digest their expressions when they realize you can hear them - and don't think about it again.
I had an old coworker make an entire “chicken & rice” song that he would sing whenever I was at the microwave. All in good fun, just do whatever works for you 🤷♂️
As a person with Celiac, I have fewer options for lunch. So a lot of Chicken and Rice!!! Now I am singing that song in my head. I made one up as well.
I brought loose lunch meat, cheese, veggies and dip for lunch this week - I call them my “adult lunchables” lol. Anyone who comments on what other people eat must have a phenomenally boring life if that’s the most interesting part of their day.
I would take this as a rude / mind your business comment.
Maybe you have dietary restrictions? Maybe you're training for a marathon? Maybe you're eating your favorite meal? Whatever you want to eat - go for it.
If / when someone makes comments I take as rude I act like I didn't hear them and if they could repeat themself.
That typically takes the piss out of them.
Then take it to the next level after they repeat themself and ask them what did they mean by the comment? You don't understand it.
Comment probably came from some 350lb person that eats fast food every day. Ignore them.
“don’t yuck my yum”
I feel it's two things
1. That would have, could have, should have said something in the moment to address it like "you're not eating it, why does it matter" showing them mind your business
Or
2. Continue to eat it & show them. Their opinion doesn't matter.
The question you have to ask yourself is why does it bother you, are you a people pleaser. What do you hope to gain by changing your food preference for them. People will always have something to say. Live YOUR best life.
Ahhh I Wish people were not so ignorant and insensitive that they can’t even have Tach if”they must gossip in ear shod of others !!!
Be you girl!!!
Eat your lunch and forget about it. You do not owe anybody any explanation.
I really don't care one bit what others think. They don't pay my bills, and doubtful they'd offer me anything from their lunches to try, yet I pack extra food and offer it to those that didn't bring lunch.
The only one who cares is jesu christ

Everyone has a different set of values for every thing, so just remind yourself of the reasons why you do anything to feel confident about your choices and not worry what other people think. They have a different value system to you.
Maybe you value doing your food prep in advance to save time, money, make sure you eat healthily. Another person might value having variety every day and deciding in the moment what they feel like eating. Neither of you are wrong - you're just doing what works or you!
The same can be said of literally anything in life. Know the purpose behind your choices and you'll soon stop worrying what anyone else thinks!
I totally get that feeling — it’s tough not to let comments about food get to you. Honestly, everyone has their own taste and routine. Sometimes I look at the Texas Roadhouse menu just for inspiration — their hearty meals and variety remind me that food is personal and meant to make you happy, not anyone else. You can also explore here https://thetexasroadhousemenu.com/. Eat what feels right for you, not what looks “acceptable.”
I don't care about other people's opinions, I care that my check is correct.
