I keep seeing job posts for “junior” or “entry-level” sales roles that want 3–5 years of experience. Like, which is it—am I learning or am I leading? I guess employers want experience but they don’t want to pay for it?? What about ppl just starting out? How can you actually get a start if entry level requires experience??

That has honestly become the norm. It is an employer's job market and they know it. They know someone with years of experience will take an entry level role because people are desperate to find jobs.

like

Ugh. Thanks for the confirmation.

The requirements for entry-level jobs are a joke right now. Mid-level qualifications and responsibilities for entry-level salaries. Totally backwards right now. Incredibly tough for those just starting, tough for everyone really.

like

I agree!

They all want a decade of experience for entry level pay, hope this helps

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote. Then sit here and can’t figure out why…
