Hi everyone!
I've been offered a job at Publicis Sapient as a front-end developer (React Js).
What kind of work culture, work load and tech stack exposure should I be expecting?
I'm having 1 year experience.
I've also got offers from IndiaMART InterMESH Limited, Amdocs, Verizon and Collegedunia.
All for the role of front-end web developer.
I'm very confused between all of them.
Is HARMAN really recruiting for permanent remote roles? Would they ask us to come to office after sometime? I am a bachelor woman supporting my sickly parents and can't move them out of city. And my city don't have harman office. HR did mention permanent remote, still want to confirm as I've heard many cases people were called back across different product based companies. I know there are plenty of exceptions to this, but by and large I’d assume many people who want to WFH are 1) more senior (already have established relationships and know the culture, how to navigate / get stuff done), and 2) have kids. The pandemic obviously came with major parenting challenges, but the Wfh life makes everything so much smoother for parents who don’t have nannies.

I love wfh but my kids make life a living hell sometimes. If my kids could go to school and I keep working from home, it’ll be the best of all worlds.
Most people in my agency who are still local will be a hybrid situation and WFH 1-3 days/week but still come in some days for in-person collaboration/interaction, meetings, resources, etc. I want a little bit of both...I get almost 2 hours day back not having to commute and ease of completing errands close to home at reasonable times during the week, but I miss being around my colleagues too.
How much you get to work from home may be dependent on level and how well you've managed WFH. Most junior staff, especially those just starting, will probably be expected at the office most days because there's a lot of learning, time management and team/client skills you learn through observation of how those around you work (plus it does build culture). Frankly, I have seen a lot of junior people flounder in this environment because they haven't been able to tune out distractions or built up the discipline that comes more easily in an office environment. I probably would have been the same, honestly.
Hang in there, it's a big experiment but plenty of places will have office presence and culture still! You're not the only one who feels this way, particularly in markets where we're living in <600sq ft apartments 😅
Normal agency culture is not good. It’s a sweatshop of toxic people. Work from home makes it just a bit more bearable.

That definitely depends on the agency.
I feel you, though I had a chance to work in office for about a year before the lockdown happened. Ideally, it’d be great that we get to be flexible with in office and WFH. As much as I feel kinda disadvantaged, I also find myself looking at more remote opportunities that aren’t limited to the city I’m in. Hang in there!
I honestly hate WFH, it's made my self motivation take a huge dive. I strive a lot more in an office setting, I feel you OP. Hoping this ends soon
I hope people will get the WFH thing out of their system and then start looking for jobs with cool offices again. Might be a few years away but I think it’ll come back. It’s hard to get energized at home.

This is a big reason why I think WFH will still be rare, at least on the creative side of things.
Many creatives I know want to continue to WFH, myself included. Personally, if my agency decides to demand everyone go back in even after it’s been made quite clear that the world still turns when people WFH, then obviously they are not open to change, and that’s not an agency I want to work for any longer. With the prospect of extreme savings from lack of rent for office space, there will be plenty of WFH-only agencies that open up and I’d be happy to work for one of them. Thank u next
Workplace culture needs to shift so that it does not rely on sharing physical space. Many companies work across multiple offices anyways.
I’d like to do a hybrid or work from home. Much more convenient.
You’re gonna change your tune once you’re trying to work in an open office. With that said your points are still valid which is why I think hybrid is the way to go.

CEOs love open offices. They just don’t work in them themselves.
I hope it’ll be an ongoing conversation.
This an opportunity to broaden your vision for your career.
Just wanted to say I totally feel you. I started a new job right after lockdown...my coworkers are really nice people, but I don’t really have any work friends 😞
I began my junior position during quarantine too and felt the same at first, but then I adopted a kitten who I’ve now spent 7 months with and can’t imagine leaving for a a full day!
I want to come back in the office 4 days a week. I need balance. And some boundaries.
Feeling the same way. I feel like a high schooler at times because senior people will have all their friends while i watch on the outskirts.
Do you think WFH has affected the quality of the work? I've noticed a drop in quality at my agency but that could just be down to budget cuts and clients playing it safe in this climate.
