I know I need to make a career change for my mental health and honestly, just to work on something that I find more fulfilling. But with the current economy, I'm super hesitant to take that leap of faith. Are there future-proof jobs outside of finance?

Been thinking about going freelance. What are your best tips for making the jump and finding work? Should I just connect with a recruiter and gobble up contract gigs? Not sure how it all works.

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

Can anyone suggest a base or generic career path for a marketing coordinator? I’m trying to make sure I define it not only fair with the market but my goals. I have 5+ experience in social media strategy, budget tracking, trade shows/conferences and now have intermediate experience in email marketing and MQL reporting. My experience is split between FP&A and accounting and while I have progressed, I am becoming depressed b/c I feel like I’m in the wrong field. Edward Jones advisor with 30 million AUM and roughly 250k gross production. Been there for almost 4 years. Got an offer at Merrill Lynch to take over a 100 million dollar retirement transition plan in 5 years, or to join a 5 person Merrill Lynch team that manages a lot.

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.

Coming out of UG, I accepted my first job b/c I thought I had to based on status of other interviews. I ended up quitting after 8 weeks in favor of an opportunity I perceived to be better, but took longer to get. 7 months into the new gig, I am NOT happy.
