I know it’s pretty early in the year but has anyone experienced burnout? Back in my old position I used to work 60+ hours a week, we even got a settlement due to the way they labeled us as hourly but was trying to pay us as salary employees.

Sounds like my last job. I can't believe what a difference my new job is compared to my old one. It's like night and day. I would never want to go back to working that much ever again.

Me too! I’m never going back!

Yea I have been super wiped out these last few years. I know it seems to still blame on COVID but seriously everything has been different and nothing feels like it did before. Even if we are back in the swing of things, so many of my coworkers are out of office still WFH and it just feels lonely and less like a place where I feel connected. Makes the days and weeks drag on.

I think everyone is burnt out due to Covid

I'm happy that you all were compensated for that. I can't believe how they tried to take advantage of you all. I was getting a little burnt out before the holiday. After a week off of work, I felt a bit better. Working on never getting to that point again in my career.

Thank you for your input! Yes we got a very nice check

How far is it true across the organisation?

Please help me shed some light to decide.

PSA - We are headed into a self-imposed economic slow down. Now is not the time to lateral but if you do, I would make sure you are at a recession-proof practice or firm. The top law firms will be okay (they always are) but if you are part of a larger group of associates with no work, you are likely to be axed. Latham did it in the 2008 and 2011 and it will happen again. If you are an associate or really anyone but a rainmaker, you are expendable.
