I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? Don’t overlook the freedom you get from stability. I’d rather write around a full-time job than write while worrying where my next paycheck is coming from.
This is a great point and something I've wondered as well. having to be always hustling for the next gig seems like it would take up a lot of brain space.
Not dumb, necessarily, so long as you don’t expect to start making money from creative writing any time soon (or maybe ever). Just know there’s a lot of hustle that goes into getting work as a freelancer, especially in the current market, so you may not be buying yourself THAT much more free time.
Good to wait because the freelance market is terrible right now. Some people who are established freelancers haven’t worked for months.
Why can't you write full time on the weekends? Or after hours? Don't let things get in the way of your dreams. You can do it 💪
only so much writing juice in the tank unfortunately
I'm freelance and thought I'd have more time for side hustles but realize now as others said having the stability and predictably of a ft job are actually more helpful with building a side hustle. One thing no one mentioned is you could consider an in-house roll that could be even more predictable and take less brain space. Good luck!
in house could be the move! thanks for the input
Just do it maaaan! You got this!
