I lost my consultancy gig last week, which had sustained me since I lost my job last year. Now I'm back in the worst job market I've ever seen for journalists - I've only had one interview this last year - I have no idea what to do next and I can't afford to write my own content without monetary compensation. Is it worth it to keep going in journalism or should I just forget it?

How difficult is it to switch projects internally in TW? Is there any said amount of time you should be in a project before you can switch?

Why provide redlines against the original draft instead of the last turn when sending drafts to opposite counsel?! This profession makes no sense.

I’ve always been comfortable concepting and writing. But when it comes to nitty gritty logistical stuff, I struggle. Like the discussions about aspect ratios, social post timelines, and the nuances of Facebook collection ads.

@Capco what’s the comms/content space like? I’ve heard lots of mixed reviews re: consultancy jobs, but that’s not my focus. I ask as I’m looking into a potential position at Capco, but concerned I could be leaving a more “secure” company (BofA) for a raise at another org. that has a lot of room for improvement.

The station I work at is down at least 15 positions. Some jobs have been open for two years.

The remaining staff is required to step up.

Additional positions are opening up as contracts are either broken or expire.

How are people able to keep their mental health up when their station isn’t hiring people they need and refuse to pay living wages to potential prospects or promote those remaining?

I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important.
