I love this city, truly, but sometimes it feels like it doesn't love me back. It's getting harder and harder every year to get by, and I don't see when it's supposed to get easier. Is this just what life is? I get no one is entitled to living in any city they want, but who is SF even for anymore? Am I just being whiny?

Currently renting for ~ $1500/mo in a low COL city. My lease ends in Dec and am looking to purchase a property and get into rental game. I have $40K in bank, but I’m not sure what my max investment should be or will be approved for. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.
