I missed the 100k points promo for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. Any others that are just as good?

450 annual fee - 250 travel credit - 100 global entry benefit = $100. The remainder is easily coveted by priority pass access, status with certain programs, access to events, etc. The points are just the icing on the cake - at 2 cents a piece, it's $1,000 worth of points

like

Someone mentioned bonus went down to 50,000 points and at $.02 each, that's $1,000

In branch no longer offers 100,000 pts

Travel credit is auto applied on ubers, flights, hotels, parking meters, public transit, etc.

And yes, global entry can be used on anyone as you pay ahead online

Not for some time, Chase wasn't expecting this type of demand for the card - they handed out so many bonuses they had to call it out on their financial statements

like

Literally how could u be on this forum and miss the promo

In brand ended, CSR is still the top premium card on the market. The benefits still outway the annual fee, even with a limited signup bonus

like

It gets credited every time you use a travel transaction

like

But seriously how are you guys on fishbowl and missed the last 6 months when every thread was about CSR

like

Ended today I believe

like

Went to a branch on Wednesday, they said it was already over 😭

like

@A1 yes, I did the same thing. It just had to get charged to your card, doesn't matter the name of the applicant.

like

Points guy did this analysis, 100k bonus was closer to 2.2k if memory serves

like

M1, see A2s post. The value of the points are really dependent on what you redeem them for

like

Nah

No CSR is the best card out

Amex Plat occasionally targets 100k too

So I should still apply and take the 50K hit?

I heard you can get the 100k if you apply in-branch?

PwC2 that's what ended. I went to the branch today.

Chase Ink Business Preferred. 80k points after 5K spend.

My investing strategy is just to DCA into an S&P 500 index fund and keep buying and holding. If I understand correctly, the sole disadvantage this has compared to a tax sheltered retirement account is that the quarterly dividends will be taxed? But even so, they’ll be taxed at a lower qualified dividend rate since I’m automatically reinvesting those dividends.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

1/3 Question on tax treatment of nonpriority unsecured claims converted into long-term note decreased total liabilities under Chapter 11. An accrual based C-Corp taxpayer completed a Chapter 11 reorganization and converted a total of $1M A/P to suppliers into a $410K LT note (a $590K liability reduction). Should we view this $590K as the Sec. 108(a)(1)(A) excludable income? After reading through IRS Pub 4681, I think it makes sense to view the $590 as "Reduced Price After Purchase", but not
