IMO your early years are where you build your connections, solid portfolio, awards and network. So whatever allows you to do that, you should. And that basically would mean just go to the places where work you want is happening. Once you’ve done all that, you can exchange that for being a freelancer or remote or building your own agency and all kinds of flexibility.
Yeah I understand, it’s a pain. It def takes a toll and you can’t keep doing that too often.
Triggering alert: you might not like the next couple sentences.
As a copywriter, you will increasingly in lesser demand effectively immediately, whether you are awesome (which I am sure you are) or not.
Try freelancing for anyone who needs your services and see what the market bears—respective or irrespective of your location. CW is the most mobile friendly service in my experience. As an agency owner I have never had it as FTE.
Simultaneously look inward/outward for other services you can provide to the ecosystem…can you bring in and manage accounts? Does doing so “do it” for you? The first agency I worked at had a co-owner who was the copy boss fwiw.
