I need to hire an experienced PI paralegal to run this department. Any tips to help me filter out candidates that might have some experience vs. someone who can run through these cases from start to finish? We are a small firm in Texas with maybe 30% PI cases.

Also, any opinions on salary brackets in the Houston area?

I was a senior paralegal before law school, and I interviewed, trained, and supervised every new paralegal the firm hired. Similar experience would be helpful. Also, try to find someone who has actually prepared for and attended at least one trial. Litigation can be very abstract if you do not know why certain things are important. Attention to detail and deadlines are crucial.

I was making $76k + lots of OT and bonus as a senior paralegal in HTX but that was 5-6 years ago.

ask important questions in an interview. case-related, insurance company related, medical related. someone can say they have experience but have zero clue how to properly manage a case. add an incentive bonus if possible. anywhere from 65-85K is reasonable.

So considering recession and mass layoff which one will be right option to select in terms wlb, job security and future growth .

FYI : checkpoint is starting r&d division in India I will be first person to be hired for the same role.

Switching from commission to salary!

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?

I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)
