Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

I had a job tell me that not only would they not match my salary request, but nobody would. The next week, I had a job offer for $10,000 over what I had originally wanted. I'm so glad I didn't settle or get shamed into settling.
Yes I got a great offer 8 months ago but the company was a step down as far as my resume. I turned the offer down and just got a better one from a company that is a step up for my resume. Timing is also better and I get to move to a lower COL city at a point in life where I’m ready and excited to do so.
I walked away from an offer over salary. They came back a week later and matched my requirement. I’m in a fairly specialized role.
Lately its been a weekly situation. Im constantly targeted by recruiters. Im getting offers right up front, & all of them fall below my current comp or at best match. Im not jumping ship and starting to climb all over again unless you aggressively offer above ehere I am.
I once took myself out of the running once I heard the compensation at the interview. (Sent an email later that day.) They were offering the same compensation I had made 20 years earlier for a similar role. But accounting for inflation, it should have been a lot more. I knew it would affect my attitude working there and knew I'd just have to keep looking for something higher. They were in a position where they really needed someone to stay for the year, so I recognized I wasn't going to be the right financial fit for them. I did point out how it should have been higher lol but of course never heard back.
