I racked up a a lot of credit card debt in undergrad and grad school paying for my expenses (groceries, rent, etc). I have never been delinquent but I am starting to feel like I am drowning in high interest credit cards

51k total in credit card debt 105k salary with student loans, paid off car.

Would it make sense to get a personal loan from SoFi to pay down some of my credit card debt ? Would my fair credit score take a hit?

Any way to live on half of your salary for one year? You’ll pay off your credit card debt in one year if that is possible. A part time job could help with that on top of your full time job as well. List out all of your debts smallest to largest and hit the ground running (debt snowball method) Don’t worry about paying off the cards with the highest interest first. If you do the debt snowball method, the debts won’t be around long enough for you to worry about the interest rate. Getting a personal loan is an option but you’re just moving your debt around. Using debt to get out of debt. Your income is plenty high to live on less than you make for a year. As a financial coach, let me know if I can help!

Any way you can get another job? Only option for you to pay the debt off is to get your income up. I believe in you! A little bit of sacrifice will go so far! Go through your last 3 months of bank statements. Pick one color to highlight your necessary expenses. The things you HAVE to have to live. Basically groceries, gas, housing expenses. Then pick another color to highlight all of the unnecessary spending. See if you can find a bigger margin. Then put the money you spend on unnecessary items and put it towards debt.

No matter how you go about it will be hard. But choose your hard! You’ve got this!

Ex CFS or OTS?

I feel under qualified at work but I also don’t know how much of it is in my head or in reality. I head a team and they seem to be happy… but I’m also personally not satisfied what we’re delivering is enough… so I have this weird mixed feeling of the stuff we’re doing not really being that stretching, but at the same time I feel out of my depth. I really don’t know what to do and whether to hold on in the hope I’ll learn something or go back to a lower grade and a more comfortable life.

26 YO, make make roughly 130k TC and really wanting to get the new 2022 Accord Hybrid Touring trim. Great MPG and reliability. MSRP is just under 40k for the top trim. Good financial move or should I go with a lower trim such as the EXL or Sport which come in around the mid 20k-low 30k area.

Under contract for nearly 1.1M. Wife and I are at HHI $315k. Will go up in the future, $400k in 3 years and $500k possible in 5-7 years. We have $300k in non-retirement funds, $260k of which will go towards acquiring the house. We have 2 kids and will probably reduce (not maxing) retirement accounts next 18 months to do this. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.

Currently maxed Roth 401k, Roth IRA, HSA, and ESPP at 23 YO, should I consider an after-tax conversion? I’ve read about back-door Roths but I’m still far below the income limit as an analyst. Definitely looking into early-ish retirement, should I just invest the rest in a regular brokerage account until I reach the income limit? Am I even allowed to do a conversion? Any advice is helpful :)

Have an acquaintance who is a single mom; she purchased a used car 3 mos ago. Six wks later her 17yo wrecked it, air bags deployed, and estimates have ranged between $10-$18k in needed repairs while $21k is still owed. Acquaintance was switching insurance policies and flubbed the coverage dates and there were a few days where the vehicle was uninsured. No GAP insurance. I'm not seeing many options for her besides to continue pmts, fixing just enough to drive or voluntary repo. Thoughts?

24 yr old, 110k TC, maxing out Roth IRA and Roth 401k, no debt or large expenses. Also have ~35k sitting in a bank account. What should I do with that money?? Am I better just sitting on it for a while then watching it shrivel up in my brokerage account?

I NEED HELP WITH CREDIT SCORE issues: Two months ago my credit score went down by 30 to 40 points due to dad missing credit card payment by a day (i got added to as authorized user on his credit card for me to build credit but now I’m filled with regret). I was devastated by it. This past month I have been making more payments and paid off my aug statement in full thinking it will boost my credit score. But I don’t know why it went down another 10 points. More below:

Looking to get an Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti sometime this year. Brand new the MSRP is about 45K and despite the reputation of the old Alfa Romeo’s from the 90’s these seem to be night and day more reliable. Would you recommend buying new, leasing new, or buying used? If I bought used it would be anywhere from 2019-2021
