I recently got my MBA and CPCU. However, I only have 5 years of underwriting experience. If I’m looking to get an UW management position, is this sufficient?

It probably depends on the company. It doesn't hurt to start putting in applications and see whta kind of offers you get. I would suggest applying at Allstate- they are a really great company to work for.

That's helpful. Thank you!

I would say so, but I'm sure it depends on the company in the position. Apply anyway and see what happens, you never know!

Thanks!

I was sold the bill of goods on CPCU and earned the designation. Currently working on MA. In sales, I have found the CPCU to be a complete waste. It isn’t helping me move to UW— likely due to company and location, a change in employer would be mandatory.

It’s living in Fl and UW being in TX.

Hi community! I finally managed to connect with Google Sourcer on LinkedIn who’s willing to spend time tmw and speak about open roles. I have 8 years of consumer sales exp + recent 2.5 years of Digital Pharma Marketing exp (agency) + MBA I just earned.
My Q: is it realistic for me to transition my career to in an Acct Manager or MM role with Google? I’d like to further grow my Marketing experience but not sure if my YOE is too low for their threshold (if any!) Lastly, any tips for the call tmw?

Hi! Recently discussed an associate graphic designer role with a recruiter. Is it reasonable to expect an 85k base in NYC? Am I underselling myself? They started with it being a 75-80k budgeted position. What are typical base salaries for someone with 4.5 ttl YOE? Does it matter that 3 YOE was in an adjacent industry?

I'm not in sales per se but I manage my company's largest wholesale account ($150 million per/yr account). It's a great company, awesome culture, good benefits, flexibility, but the pay is not great ($60K/yr). All the pros outweighed the mediocre pay, but now with inflation rising, my paycheck isn't going as far and I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out if I should start looking elsewhere or if I should ask my boss for a raise.

So, I landed a Customer Service Advisor job at Sitel in the UK. But I heard that they fire you without any prior notice or end their campaigns abruptly, leaving us with no job. Can’t be facing the risk of no livelihood, right? Can anyone who worked with Sitel give me the real truth? And does Sitel sponsor Tier 2 Visas as such? I am surely looking for stability, security and growth.

So I have been seeing a guy for 4 months. We have a pay disparity.. he earns less than I do (by quite a bit). He has mentioned a few times that he’s worried I’ll get bored of him when I know he can’t afford the same things I can. I think we are beginning to move past this, but now he’s starting to mention things like ‘I am really broke this month’, and last weekend he told me his mum has lost her job and he’ll have to probably pay her rent. I have a lot of sympathy for his situation … tbc
