When it comes to relocating your entire family for a new job, they’re only two things that matter. The salary and the career growth. If you don’t have enough money or long term potential than the move is just not worth it.
Thank you for sharing.

I have kids and it is a huge factor. Would I take a job in say Flint or Detroit? No between water problems and reputation of the cities absolutely not. Knoxville TN probably although I wouldn't get to see my family as much. If the job gave enough incentive to be able to fly often to see family here in VA that would factor too.
Thanks. Appreciate your comments.
I have had to turn down an opportunity like that in the past. I just didn't want to relocate my kids because they love their friends and their schools. It is such a hard decision to make but location definitely factors in.
My father moved us around a lot.
He did refuse to move us to the South. There was still a lot of residual segregation at that time and he didn’t want us exposed to that.
In retrospect, I think it taught us some resilience. We learned that we could cope in different places. Change wasn’t going to destroy our lives. As adults, we’ve all been able to move when needed. Lots of people seem to get stuck in one place. When some better opportunity calls, you should be able to go to it.
